Remon's Prayer
Whenever someone in our LeaderSource team has a birthday we ask them to share a little and then we all bless them. Recently, it was the birthday of Remon from Egypt. His sharing was so deep I wanted to share it with you all so you can pray this prayer too!
On my birthday, Lord, as I look back at the years behind me, I can’t think of a greater prayer than this: I want to know You more. I’m not asking for more success, more comfort or even more achievements. I’m asking for a heart that is hungry for You every day, and eyes that see You deeply through Your Word, so that knowing You will not just be information, but a real relationship, and a life lived with You.
Thank You for choosing to use someone like me in Your work. It is a privilege I do not deserve. Keep my life in Your hands, and use me every day to share Your love, lead people to You, serve those in need and bring hope and joy to everyone You put in my path.
Teach me to lead the way You led – with humility, love and faithfulness. Build people through my life who truly know You, live for You and continue the work after us. Let every effort in Your service bear fruit that will last and bring glory to Your Name.
Give me a heart that never stops learning, wisdom to listen before I speak and a tongue that speaks the truth with love. Let every word I write, every message I send and every opportunity I have to speak about You encourage others, build them up and bring them closer to You.
Bless my home and my family, and help me stay faithful with everything You have trusted me with. As I think about the years ahead, I’m not asking for an easier life. I’m asking for a life that is closer to You, filled with Your Presence and more fruitful for Your Kingdom.
And in the end, Lord, when my life is over, I don’t want people to remember me. I want them to remember that they saw You through me. Let my goal every day be to love You with all my heart, love people the way You love them and finish the mission You have given me until my last breath.
All the glory belongs to You, Lord, for this new year of my life and for every life You will touch through my weakness.
Amen.
